KAMPALA-We have called this press briefing to inform the public about the progress we are making in the greater Masaka Region particularly in the districts of Masaka, Lwengo, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Rakai, and Sembabule.
Due to the increased visibility which is our principal enforcement strategy with greater presence of police car and foot patrols, accompanied by education and awareness campaigns, as well as activating the neighborhood watch schemes up to the lowest unit of the village; we have successfully eliminated black spots and not registered any new attacks on civilians in the area.
So far 23 suspects have been arrested, 19 of whom are to appear in court today on various offences of Aggravated Robbery, Attempted murder and Rape.
We are therefore concerting efforts on how to better protect members of public in this region and the country at large.

There is no doubt with this new level of mutual support and coordination among the security agencies, crime preventers, local council leaders and the community, peace and security will be greatly restored.
